There are many styles of alarm clocks available in today’s market. A time piece can be chosen which will match any decor or for even the wildest trend. One of the most unique styles available is the projection alarm clock.

An alarm clock which displays the time on a wall or ceiling is very useful. Of course it will do as its name implies and wake you up at a preset time each morning. It will also be convenient for those times when you wake up in the middle of the night! There isn’t a long search to find where the clock is and try to make out the time for the time is being displayed on the ceiling or the wall and clearly visible even in the dark.

Depending on personal preferences, different models can be purchased. Some models display and project the time continuously. Other models have a button which is pushed manually to have the time projected on demand. Many models also display items such as the current outdoor temperature or indoor humidity.

One style of atomic clock displays time and temperature, and also contains a built-in weather station. It will display the atomic time, date, weekday, and an animated weather forecast. Some project time and temperature simultaneously and some alternate between time and temperature.

There are styles which include CD players or radios; most also come with multiple commands so you can choose what kind of sound you would like to wake up hearing; traditional alarms, the radio or a favorite CD.

These innovative alarm clock radios come with many different features. They are available in many colors and styles to match any decor or personality. Projection alarm clocks will be sure to spice up any room.

Tip – I Just Set the Alarm on My Timex Ironman Watch and I Can’t Turn the Darn Thing Off!
By Rod McAnally

Hope you didn’t set it too early.

Haven’t we all had moments like this!
You had nothing but the best intentions of course, when you set yourTimex IRONMAN Watch for 6:30am. You were determined to do that morning run if it killed you!

Of course best intentions are all good, but when 6:30am rolled around, your first reaction was predictable wasn’t it… at that moment in time, you wanted nothing better than to DESTROY your Timex IRONMAN watch, or at least turn that darn beeping off so as to squeeze another hour of sleep in before work!

Ok, so you probably (somehow) managed to turn the thing off. Or maybe you took the easier route and just pulled your pillow tightly over your ears until the damn thing stopped, and it worked.. Briefly, but now the #@”! thing goes off EVERY morning at 6:30am like, er… clockwork! Arrrrgggg! why do those IRONMAN watches have to be so efficient??

While I’ve heard a sledgehammer is a common solution to this common problem, please don’t despair, for I show you a way to unset your alarm that does not involve the mutilation of your timepiece.

The standard Timex IRONMAN watch looks something like the layout below:
(I cannot show a picture here, so please refer to the link in my signature)

Please note: I am attempting to keep this information as general as possible, however there are many Timex IRONMAN watch models on the market and this information might not apply precicely to every single model out there. I do believe the ALARM function works in a similar way in many IRONMAN watches and what I say here will apply in most cases.

Ok, so when the alarm is going off, simply pressStart/Split orStop/Reset to disarm the alarm. To know when your alarm is armed, a clock icon will appear on the face of your Timex watch, when disarmed, the clock will disappear. If the alarm goes off and you make the mistake of waiting it out in the hope it will go away, a back-up alarm will fire up five minutes later for further tormentation.

So now the quick fix is out of the way, here is how to turn the alarm off permanently:

press the MODE button until you are in ALARM mode

press SET/RECALL to configure the alarm

PressSTOP/RESET (-) orSTART/SPLIT (+) to cycle through alarms

When you have selected the alarm you wish to erase, hold down STOP/RESET (-) to clear the selected alarm.

Ahh peace of mind at last!

Oh, and if you were actually wondering how to SET the alarm, be sure to look out for this topic on my blog soon.

Rod’s mission is to take the confusion out selecting, comparing and buying a Timex IRONMAN watch and other sports watch timepieces. If you liked this article, more watch related information can be found at http://www.sportswatchinformant.com I also will sometimes refer to the standard Timex IRONMAN Watch layout diagram which can be located on my site at http://www.sportswatchinformant.com/timex-ironman-watch-button-layout

The Sweet Melodies of a Nature Sounds Alarm Clock
By Morgan Hamilton

What is the thing that wakes you up each morning? Is it the sun that blinds you? Or is it the brutal ringing of the alarm clock? It doesn’t matter what makes your eyes open but you would certainly prefer to wake up gently without any brute force. Just imagine how much better it would be if a nature sounds alarm clock wakes you up each morning. This modern alarm clock wakes you up without the brutality factor. So consider how you’d like to wake up.

I remember that during my High school years none of the digital alarm clocks would wake me up. Maybe I needed an ACDC concert to be waken up. That’s the reason why I ended up buying one of those old-fashioned wind-up alarm clocks. Have you seen these lovely items? They surely work, even though they are not exactly nature sounds alarm clocks. These old alarm clocks have a hammer between their little bells and that hammer smashes back and forth between them, so there is no way that you’ll keep sleeping once it starts ringing. You will be so eager to turn that alarm off that you will get up in no time. However, nowadays there is even a better solution.

You can purchase a nature sounds alarm clock. I fell in love in these wonderful innovations the first time I saw them. Some of them have serene outdoor sounds; others offer you to listen to the ocean, rainforest or calm wind. If you are a thunderstorm or babbling brook lover, then you can purchase a nature sounds alarm clock with these sounds. I think this is really fantastic. The vast majority of people are keen on these lovely sounds anyway. It would be amazing to make them your alarm clock sound, wouldn’t it? That way waking up would not so unpleasant.

Are you looking for the perfect alarm clock? You will not make a mistake if you try a nature sounds alarm clock. Frankly speaking, we all long for peaceful night’s sleep. Let’s not spoil it with brutally screaming alarm clock. Everyone would agree that this is not the right way to begin your day. You have another choice if you are ready for a change. You just have to get online and check out the new nature sounds alarm clocks. Now you can have that soft, pleasant awakening you’ve always dreamt of. Just purchase nature sounds alarm clock as soon as possible.

Here at Online Clock, were big fans of clocks and radios.

The fact that Im an American living abroad and cant get U.S. Television probably has something to do with the fact that I just dont watch TV. If youre living overseas, most of the American TV channels that publish shows online restrict viewing to persons with an IP Address located within the U.S.A.

This results in me listening to lots and lots of radio, which isnt a bad thingradio rulesespecially Talk Radio, which I always seem to have running in the background. (Right now, as I write this, Im listening to the Best of Art Bell, which you can frequently find in our list of Talk Radio Stations at the link above.)

If you ever move away from home, its incredibly reassuring to know that, these days with Internet Radio, you can listen to the same stations you used to listen to when you were living in Chicago, or NYC or San Francisco. It makes it so cozy, its as if you never moved away!

So that explains why were so excited about the subject of Internet Alarm Clock Radios here at OnlineClock.net.

Because of this interest in the subject, Ive tried out some different Internet Radio devices (the hardware variety).

Heres a short overview of what Ive tried so farI still actually own both of these.
Noxon Internet Radio

Noxon Internet Radio

The first Internet Radio I tried was the Noxon from TerraTec. What you see above is actually their second version, the Noxon 2. The device I still have (and which still works) is the predecessor to what you see above. (It looks somewhat similar but is a bit uglier. )

The device worked fineits just that it seemed to lack something important: it didnt have an Alarm Clock. Even worse, they stopped releasing firmware updates which makes my older Noxon 1 device non-updatableI called their customer support and they told me it will never be updated again and suggested that I go out and buy their newest model.

That pissed me off, so I instead went out and bought this:
MusicPal Internet Radio

MusicPal Internet Radio

The MusicPal Internet Radio from Freecom is a good device. Freecom releases frequent firmware updates which improve the devices functionality. It has, importantly, an integrated Alarm Clock which works OK.

So, in comparison with the Noxon, this one is truly an Internet Alarm Clock Radio. Like the Noxon device, you can hook this Internet Radio up to your stereo or to any other external speakers you might have, which is highly recommended, since the internal speaker is a bit tinny and certainly not appropriate for listening to music at louder volumes. The only other drawback of this device is that it lacks a remote control, which the Noxon device has. Still, since this Internet Radio was always directly near my bed, I didnt need a remote.

So there we have two examples. The first one (at least in the older model I had) contains no Alarm Clock, and the second one does.

The reason why Im mentioning these devices is that Im convinced that none of these can compare with the convenience and functionality you have at your disposal if you simply use our Clock Radio on a Netbook as your Internet Alarm Clock Radio.

Why is the combination of our browser-based Clock Radio running on a Netbook a better solution?

Here are the reasons:

1. Netbooks are 1000% more powerful than any kind of Internet Radio hardware device
2. Netbooks are versatile: they may be used as an Internet Radio, as an Alarm Clock, or you can check your Emails or play games on them, etc
3. The firmware on Netbooks can always be updated
4. Its easier to log onto different Wireless Hot Spots with a Netbook than it is with an Internet Alarm Clock Radio device, making them more mobile.
5. Using a Netbook as your Alarm Clock Radio youre never locked in to using one kind of software for your Alarm Clock (we hope youll use ours, of coursebut its a free world, and youre free to do as you wish. Viva La Anarchy!)

Despite how cute Chumbys look, for example, I would always prefer saving up my money and buying a Netbook instead, for all of the same reasons that Ive listed above.

Lets say its the middle of the night. You cant sleep. You decide to flick on the light and write a quick email. You think you can try that with a conventional internet alarm clock radio or a Chumby, pal? Think again.

So, thats Online Clocks take on the subject of Internet Alarm Clock Radios.

Have you used any similar devices?

The famous Westclox alarm clock , has been made almost continually in the United States since 1909. So, I guess it’s not very surprising that I made it part of my clock collection.

Decades ago, and I wont tell you how many except that if you were born in that year youd be old enough to be President of the United States, I was wandering through an antique store when a bit of shiny polished nickel caught my eye on a shelf nestled among other great stuff. It was a delightful old clock that resembled a plump pocket watch with a name that has a double meaning, Big Ben. Of course, the original Big Ben is the famous tower clock in London and here was this little American upstart by Westclox with a patent date of 1919 on it. Needless to say, I determined that this decades-old timepiece did indeed still run and happily brought it home.

I didnt know then than I had purchased an early version of the quintessential American alarm clock that has been in production continuously from 1909 until the 21st century, except from 1942 to 1954 during World War II when Westclox contributed to the war effort. Westclox began life as the United Clock Company in 1885 in the renowned clock making center of Waterbury, Connecticut but became the Western Clock Manufacturing Company shortly thereafter. During the 1930s the company merged with the famous Seth Thomas Clock Company and by 1936 the Westclox brand name was being manufactured by a Division of General Time Corporation.

Unaware of all of this clock-making history, I had a Big Ben alarm clock in my possession. While I wound the mechanism and verified that the timepiece kept accurate time before leaving the antique store (they were stores then, not malls), I wasnt aware of what the alarm sounded like. Little did I know that in 1908 the United Clock Manufacturing Company obtained a U.S. patent for the Big Ben alarm clock movement. The movement is called a “bell-back” design whereby the alarm bell mechanism is integral to the clock’s case. You see, the metal case of the Big Ben is the alarm and the loud bell sound echoes from the whole clock. Prior to the Big Ben, an alarm clock was equipped with an actual bell and ringer mechanism on top or somewhere inside the case.

On that fateful day I naively held the Big Ben in my hands and set the alarm to go off just a few minutes hence. Well, the operative phrase was loud enough to wake the dead; my old Big Ben worked very well indeed. American ingenuity had found a way to support the American work ethic of early to rise; there was no way to sleep through a Big Bens alarm! My trusty old Big Ben alarm clock made sure I went to work on time for many years to come.
