Do You Know What is the Best Vacuum Cleaner for Home Use?

December 26th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Best Vacuums

With so many vacuum cleaners on the market today how can a consumer know what one to buy for house cleaning purposes?  It is never easy to sort out the pros and cons but that is an excellent starting point to begin the search for the best vacuum.  I have researched the market and spent many hours pondering which machine would be the best. I wrote a list of what was important to me before researching what was available.  I did not do the research because I love vacuum cleaners but instead because I use and depend on them everyday in our cleaning business.  Vacuum cleaners come in two basic types as most people know an upright and a canister.  In today’s market some vacuum cleaner companies make a backpack vacuum, which as the name suggests is a vacuum that straps to your back.  A few homecleaning service companies use a backpack vacuum but that is not a usual choice for a home owners use.  Why carry a vacuum on your back when there is no need to?  The canister vacuum will go places that no upright vacuum will.  So I narrowed my search down to canister vacuums.  My research brought to light one brand of vacuum that consistently scored higher than the rest and most of the time at the number one spot.

What was important to me were several criteria.  First, the machine must do an excellent job picking up dirt, dust, and debris.  As you can imagine, our customers would be upset if their floors were not clean after we completed our work.  Second, the machine should be durable and dependable.  I have used machines that are a waste time because the belts break frequently or the hose clogs easily.  Third, the vacuum must be light.  Home cleaning is a physically challenging endeavor especially when doing several in a day.  Usually cleaning the floor is the most physical part of our daily work.  Many people purchase the wrong machine for home use.  Little or no thought went into how difficult it would be to lift the heavy machine they own to the second and third floors.  Pushing a heavy vacuum around from room to room can be a drag if the machine is too heavy.  Forth, ease of use was important to me.  Bending over to wrap a cord up every time you are done is not what I would consider for a vacuum cleaner as easy to use, especially when there are other options available.  Fifth, good vacuums come with a HEPA filter.  If you suffer from asthma or allergies a HEPA filter will keep your air clean.  I can still remember, as a child, the smell of dirt and dust in the air after mom was done vacuuming around our home.  All professional house cleaning service companies use machine with true HEPA filtration.

To recap write down what is important to you when looking for a vacuum cleaner.  Then find the models that have the features you are looking for.  Finally compare the different models and search for the one that comes out on or at the top of the scoring most often.  Better vacuums will cost more but will pay for themselves by giving you a better job and will be easier to use.

The Best Vacuum Cleaners for the Job

December 19th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Eureka Vacuum Parts

Not all vacuum cleaners are created equally. Some vacuum cleaners are best at picking up pet hairs, while others are ideal for cleaning upholstery and carpeted stairs. But when it comes to buying a new vacuum cleaner, how do know which models can do what? No one should need to own more than one vacuum cleaner, so spend a little time researching what’s on the market and you’ll be able to find the perfect vacuum cleaner for use around your home.

For the Allergy Sufferer

If you or anyone in your household suffers with an allergy, or is asthmatic, then when it comes to choosing a vacuum cleaner, you need to pay particular attention to the cleaner’s filtration system. Filtration determines how many dust particles will escape into the air from the vacuum’s exhaust. “Standard” vacuum filtration is the least efficient way of removing particles, although some filtration systems are fitted with multiple filter levels which improve the filtration. HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air) or S-class filtration is more suitable for allergy sufferers as it filters out particles and allergens, resulting in cleaner emissions. Both standard and HEPA/S-class filtration systems require regular replacing of the vacuum cleaner filter, although you can get vacuum cleaners that are equipped with life-time filters. Recommended vacuum cleaners for allergy sufferers include:

Dyson Ball Upright Vacuum Cleaner — DC24 and DC25

Dyson DC17 Absolute Animal Vacuum Cleaner (designed for homes with pets)

Electrolux Intensity Compact Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Electrolux Harmony HEPA Canister Vacuum Cleaner with Turbo Brush (for hardwood floors)

(Note: As with all Dyson models, all VAX cleaners are fitted with HEPA filtration)

For the Pet Owner

Keeping areas in the home free of pet hairs can be a mammoth task if you use the wrong vacuum cleaner, so you need to choose wisely. Upright vacuums tend to be better at picking up pet hairs than cylinder cleaners as they are fitted with motorised brush heads that are better at prising fur away from carpet fibres, resulting in a very useful pet vacuum cleaner. However, some cylinder vacuum cleaners have a “turbo tool” with rotating brushes that can help to loosen hairs as the vacuum cleaner passes over the carpet. Recommended carpet cleaners for pet owners include:

Dyson DC14 and DC15 Animal Bagless Vacuum Cleaner

Dyson DC08 Telescope Wrap Animal Vacuum Cleaner

Eureka Boss 4D Vacuum Cleaner

Roomba Discovery Vacuum Cleaner

Miele TT5000 Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner Cat and Dog

For Cleaning Upholstery

While the vacuum cleaner you’re considering buying may be suitable for large areas of carpet, can it also deal with keeping your upholstered surfaces clean? Many vacuum cleaners nowadays are equipped with accessories for cleaning upholstery, including curtains, which means that you don’t have to buy a separate handheld vacuum cleaner to keep your upholstery looking as good as your floors. A number of the models in the range of upright bagless vacuums from Vax and Dyson come equipped with a “turbo tool” or appropriate accessory for vacuuming upholstery and car interiors. Recommended cleaners for upholstery include:

Dyson DC14 Animal Bagless Vacuum Cleaner

Vax VZL-201 Swift Zero Vacuum Cleaner

Tips On Choosing The Best Vacuum Cleaners In The Market

December 19th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Best Vacuums

The world continues to revolve at such a fast pace. With it, our level of technology has also brought out various ways to make life easier and more comfortable for everybody. One of the mundane tasks in life is cleaning up the house. And technology has not bypassed such an essential part of human existence. In our modern world, the best vacuum cleaners is every housewife’s ultimate buddy.

With such importance placed on this piece of equipment, there is the continuing effort to make it better and better. All around us, different types of vacuum cleaners are being developed to meet each and every single need of people around the world. There are different considerations when choosing the most effective equipment. Here are some:

Types of vacuum cleaners – There are two basic kinds of vacuum cleaners available in the market today. Upright vacuum cleaners are heavier, harder to manage and more difficult to use when dealing with small gaps and spaces. However, most of them come with the necessary attachments that enable one to get to closed spaces. Basically, the best thing about the upright cleaners is how their motors are nearer to their vacuum heads, which adds up to their suction ability. The cylinder vacuum cleaners, on the other hand, are preferred because of being lighter. This is mainly due to the fact that their motors are smaller.

Power – The motor of the vacuum cleaner determines its power. There is a positive relationship between the wattage of the motor and its ability to function at its fullest. The best cylinder vacuum cleaner has wattage of 1400 watts while an upright one should be around 1300 watts.

The price – When buying equipment like a vacuum cleaner, it is important to note that not everything that is expensive is generally good.

Special Features – Like many other innovations, vacuum cleaners are continuously improved to answer everyone’s specific need. The bagless vacuum cleaner is the answer to the loss of suction power due to the bags where the dirt is collected. It is, however, more expensive and not beneficial for households with asthmatic members. Stick vacuum cleaners, on the other hand, are the ultimate solution to high areas that need cleaning and maintenance.

Feedbacks – Since it is hard to get a good idea of how the item is going to serve its purpose, getting a handful of feedback from other users on the different types and brands of vacuum cleaners is the best tool when coming up with the final decision on the item to purchase.

The various options of vacuum cleaners in the market make the process of decision-making even harder. One should just focus on his own need for the item in order to get ahold of the best one that works for him.

Features To Look For In The Best Vacuums On The Market

December 16th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Best Vacuums

If you are tossing up between which are the best vacuums on the market today and still can’t decide which to purchase you should check out the following list. These pointers should help you decide which features should be important to you when you buy your new vacuum.

Price: This is always an important consideration. Research has shown price is a reasonably guide as to the effectiveness of any vacuum cleaner. At the same time it is not necessary to purchase the most expensive vacuum cleaner. Instead first look for the model that has the features you require. More expensive models are likely to come with more accessories and have a longer reach.

Power: Watts do NOT equal performance. Instead other factors such as design, suction tubes, and filters have a bigger impact on the overall effectiveness of your vacuum cleaner.

Design: A canister model, one that lies on the floor, will be easier to carry up stairs and vacuum your car. Uprights are often easier to move around.

Power Control: Some vacuum cleaners have the ability to change the motor power when you need it. This is useful when vacuuming cushions or curtains or on some hardwood floors.

Dust Bags or Vacuum Bins: Some cleaners on the market have built in bins (or even re-usable cloth bags) while these will save you money they are messy. These are a poor option if you suffer from allergies. Throwaway dust bags are tidier but remember you have to pay for each one.

Noise: How much noise will the unit make?

Swivel head: A feature of some of the best vacuums on the market is a swivel connection where the hose pipe attaches itself to the vacuum. This allows greater mobility and helps reduce the chance of a cleaner catching on a corner, or from tipping whilst being towed.

Turbo or Power head: These improve the pickup rate on dirt such as pet hair. The only problem with these is while they work well you do need to periodically clean the head of hair build up.

Telescopic wand: Most of the best vacuums have a telescopic wand that can be adjusted to your height. This reduces the amount bending and awkward movement needed while vacuuming.

Accessories: Make sure the cleaner comes with the accessories you will need. A rule of thumb is that the more a model costs the more accessories that should come with it.

You want to purchase the best vacuums you can. Check out all the features above to see what is important to you. Then make an educated decision.

The I-Robot Roomba 610 Professional – The Best Vacuum Cleaner – Period

December 14th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Best Vacuums

Some friends and I were talking this evening, and somehow the subject of vacuum cleaners became topic of conversation. After considerable effort, we managed to turn the conversation into a full-blown argument about who actually made the best vacuum cleaner. All sorts of criteria, for being the best vacuum cleaner, were thrown about, such as sucking power, dependability and the like. However, in the end, common sense and I prevailed.

While the others made very persuasive arguments about what constitutes the best vacuum cleaner, ultimately it was the simplest of reasons that made my Roomba 610 Pro, by I-Robot, the clear and obvious winner. What was the reason? Ok, I will tell you. It was sheer laziness, and I am not too proud to admit it.

I can positively state that the I-Robot Roomba 610 Professional is, absolutely and unequivocally, the best vacuum cleaner ever produced by a human being. Nothing anyone can say will convince me otherwise. I just do not care! While it may lack significant power and a see through canister, it more than makes up for with its intelligence and work ethic. No janitor or house cleaner works harder. In addition, I can tell it to stay out of my computer room, and it actually listens.

I was fortunate enough to receive mine as a bonus type gift, from a company for which I wrote some IT articles. Mind you, I would never personally spend 600 dollars for a vacuum cleaner; however, it would have been rude of me to refuse to accept the vacuum.

This vacuum cleaner is the coolest, most awesome, wickedest thing ever invented. (I think this is the appropriate vernacular these days). I write for more hours in a day than I care to admit, and I can barely fathom the thought of pushing a broom or vacuum. Moreover, since I inevitably always buy the cheapest vacuum I can find, I have to vacuum twice as long; whereas a better vacuum would have been much more efficient and convenient. In addition, being a closet cheapskate, I would always insure my vacuum was hidden from the condemning eyes of guests and friends. But, not anymore!

There a number of reasons I think the Roomba 610 Pro is the best vacuum ever produced. It is built like a tank, you can easily program it where to go (and where not) and it even recharges itself. I have not physically made contact with mine in a couple of months; yet, I can hear it purring away in the hallway. My cat, however, does attack the robot vacuum on occasion. However, the Roomba does not seem to pay her much mind.

I-Robot certainly got it right with the Roomba 610 Pro. I do not see how you mere mortals can survive without one. If you have not guessed by now, I am so very, very pleased with my robot helper, and I just thought you all should know. Of course, everything above is my humble opinion and nothing else. However, it is the best vacuum ever made!
