Best Deals Vacuum Review – Hoover U5269-900 EmPower Bagless Upright Vacuum

January 25th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in Best Vacuums

In our search for the best vacuums under $100, Hoover continued to impress us. Hoover has been around for as long as there have been vacuum cleaners, and the reason is obvious. They simply make good machines, and their U5269-900 EmPower is certainly no exception.

The unit arrived in a nondescript box that did not have the usual laundry list of specs and features listed. Therefore, I was not sure if Hoover was trying to hide something or not. However, I was determined to figure out which.

Upon opening the box, I was surprised by how light the unit was (this will make those trips up and down the stairs much easier). Though not heavy at all, it seemed surprisingly well made for a unit of its weight and price range. The carry handle is also very well placed, and makes hauling the unit around much less of a chore.

Once unboxed and assembled, I observed that the unit had been well designed, in terms of attachment placement and build quality. The vacuum reviews of other units similarly priced showed that this not the case with all vacuums reviewed in our search. The cord was long enough to provide coverage in most large rooms. In fact when used in apartments and smaller homes, unplugging the vacuum may not be necessary.

After I had finished visually inspecting the unit, it was time to put it through the real tests. Sucking up dirt and pet hair! This is where vacuums either shine or fade away, and this machine did its part to live up to its proud Hoover heritage. Though there are certainly more powerful units available, no other vacuum that we have reviewed in this price range even comes close to the U5269-900, in terms of raw suction power.

In fact, the unit is so powerful, that the spinning brush ALMOST seems to have the effect of making the unit a self-propelled unit. Although this unit does not have the self-propelled feature, some users will think it does. It cut through our everyday dirt and pet hair tests with minimal effort, and left the carpets very clean. It was also better at cleaning in corners and along walls than any other vacuum reviewed in our search.

When tested in our filtration monitoring room, the unit performed in line with standards set for HEPA based filters, and performed as intended. Therefore, it is effective at trapping most allergens and air impurities.

As good as this vacuum cleaner is though, there are a couple of things that could have been better. For one, clean up of the canister is often very messy and cumbersome. If the canister is shaken too much, it causes the infamous dust cloud. In addition, the ‘Hush Mode’ of the unit is not as effective in noise suppression, as other vacuums reviewed in our search.

Obviously, this is because the unit is so much more powerful than any other vacuum in our test group. Nevertheless, the Hoover U5269-900 was the clear winner in our search for the best vacuum in the sub $100 price range.

At vacuum-cleaner-select.com, you will find vacuum cleaner reviews and vacuum cleaner ratings by real consumers to help you to select your next vacuum. You will not have to wade through the fluff of other sites to find the information for which you are looking.

Hoover Electronic Bagless Vacuum Review – Model S3765-040

December 19th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Hoover Vacuum Parts

Hoover has made excellent vacuum cleaners for many years. With the recent popularity of canister vacuum cleaners, Hoover has produced a winner with its Windtunnel electronic bagless canister model, the S3765-040.

Design and Features

This vacuum cleaner is not an upright model, so keep that in mind as you compare this machine to others. The main unit sits on the floor with a detachable wand doing the actually cleaning work. Some would say the main unit resembles a prop from the Star Wars movie!

This machine features a powerful motor with variable speed controls that controls the suction. All of the controls are designed so that the user can manipulate the vacuum with the touch of a finger. Because of its non-upright and low-profile design , you will find it easy to clean hard to reach places throughout your home.

Reaching under furniture is a breeze with this Hoover model. The design is meant to be economic in nature, and users will find that the machine is easy to maneuver within most any average sized room. The entire unit weighs in at 31 pounds, but since the main unit is separated from the actual cleaning wand, it feels much lighter when actually being used.

The metal wand of this machine easily detaches from the floor attachment by tapping on a release lever. The cord winds up easily and automatically and, although a bit stiff, it becomes more flexible overtime and use.

Look Ma, No Bags!

As the name suggests, the machine uses no bags. Rather, it utilizes a canister and HEPA filter to trap dust and dirt. Like the more expensive Dyson vacuum cleaners, the Hoover bagless canister model harnesses centrifugal force to separate dust particles, hair, and microscopic dirt from the incoming air. This machine does an excellent job of picking up what other vacuums leave behind. One advantage to the bagless canister models, is that you can see the particles and dirt the vacuum managed to suck up and trapped inside the canister immediately after cleaning.

Some consumers find it annoying to have to empty dirt from their vacuum cleaner frequently. Others get satisfaction of seeing that the vacuum cleaner they invested in is doing the job it is supposed to. This Windtunnel model will definitely need more frequent emptying then a vacuum that uses bags, but this minor inconvenience is well worth it in the long run.

Keep in mind that bagless vacuum cleaners do need filter replacement occasionally. Be sure to always check on the price of replacement filters before you purchase your machine. Depending on the model, you may find it cost prohibitive to the more traditional bagged options in vacuums.

Price

The Hoover electronic bagless canister vacuum is certainly not the most expensive model on the market, but is not the cheapest either. Bagless vacuums have traditionally been pricier than machines that use bags, but the S3765-040 could be considered a midrange price when compared to other bagless machines. Plan on spending in the neighborhood of $250 for the Hoover bagless model. For more inexpensive options, consider purchasing a demo model, or a slightly used model locally.

Overall Rating

If you are looking for a self-contained upright model vacuum cleaner, then the Hoover S3765-040 is not for you. However, if you would like a vacuum cleaner with considerable maneuverability, excellent performance, and one that requires no bags to replace, then this machine is well worth looking into. Overall, this Hoover bagless vacuum gets a solid four stars out of five. If you are in the market for a bagless machine, give this one a test drive today.

Hoover Upright Vacuum – Still Cleaning Up

December 9th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Hoover Vacuum Parts

The first true portable electric vacuum cleaner was invented by one James Spangler in Canton, Ohio in 1907 when he modified a carpet sweeper that he used as a janitor in a department store and he went on to patent the idea in 1908 after he had added a cloth, dust collection bag and removable cleaning attachments. One of the first to sit up and take notice was William Hoover, a relative of Spangler who bought the patent and then developed the idea alongside Spangler, in the process, sparking a revolution in household cleaning.

In 1908, the first bag on a stick Hoover upright vacuum cleaner was patented and introduced to a sceptical world and not unusually, failed to set the world alight. As the machine worked so well, they were confident it would sell if only people would try it which is why they offered a free home trial over 10 days to everyone, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Hoover has remained the pre-eminent vacuum cleaner in most households throughout the U.S and Great Britain over the last 100 years. So much so that in Britain, where the Hoover upright vacuum has been made since 1919, any one who is vacuuming anything is said to be ‘hoovering’.

It wasn’t until the early nineties that vacuum cleaner design underwent any really radical changes with the introduction of the Dyson cyclone vacuum cleaner that no longer required a dust collection bag. An invention incidentally that James Dyson spent years perfecting in his garden shed. The new Dyson was a great success despite it’s price ticket, at least you no longer had to buy bags for your vacuum cleaner, although the vacuum bag salesman wouldn’t have been too happy, it did prove to all the other manufacturers that innovation was still possible and wanted.

Hoover has responded magnificently, introducing bagless models to their renowned WindTunnel range, including a Hoover upright vacuum that is self propelled. They have also further developed their own cyclonic system, similar to a Dyson but thankfully at a much lower price. Hoover also understands that not everyone can afford or even necessarily needs these high end vacuums so produces a range of cleaners, including the Widepath Tempo that retail for less than a hundred dollars.

If you are an allergy sufferer, the best vacuum for you is a HEPA vac. The HEPA filter system is the most effective allergen remover available. A Hoover upright vacuum with inbuilt HEPA filtration trap all dust mites, plant pollen and pet allergens.

Hoover upright vacuum cleaners are now right back up there at the top of most peoples wish list because of their quality, practicality and value for money.

There are so many vacuum cleaners to choose from in today’s consumer pleasing retail embracing society, how does a consumer possibly decide on which vacuum is the best vacuum for them?

Most consumers have heard of the Hoover vacuum.  Hoover is one of the leading manufacturers of household products. These products include cleaners and the Hoover vacuum is probably the most well known of these cleaning products. In America people say they are going to ‘vacuum’ their carpet, however in Europe it is known that people say they are going to ‘Hoover’ their carpet.

Over the decades, Hoover has updated its very first model, which was the Constellation. This Hoover model in vacuum cleaner reviews is said to have a changing HEPA filtration bag and a 12 amp motor. In addition, other vacuum cleaner reviews state the completely redesigned Hoover has a new handle due to the fact the old one used to break quite easily. The new handle however, makes up for anything in the past and is extremely controllable and lightweight.

Hoover marketed the Constellation model in the United States, called the exact same vacuum with same features and same specifications the Satellite in Europe, and marketed it under that name.

In 1973, Hoover designed and introduced another model called the Celebrity.
Another brand of vacuum cleaner that vacuum cleaner ratings say is possibly one of the best vacuums is the Kirby Vacuum. Headquartered in Cleveland Ohio, the Kirby Company began making the Kirby vacuum cleaners shortly after World War I.

Kirby products have always been sold by door-to-door salesman. All Kirby products have been sold door to door, including the Kirby vacuum cleaner. Vacuum cleaner ratings have always put Kirby vacuums at or near the top. There are rarely consumer complaints in regards to functionality and quality of the Kirby. However, there are complaints from employees of the company however, that does not affect the quality of the Kirby vacuum cleaner or other Kirby products.

The Hoover 30010COM – The Review

November 9th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Hoover Vacuum Parts

The Hoover Platinum Lightweight is a bagged upright with canister UH30010COM. If you are looking for versatility then this is the vacuum for you! This vacuum cleaner has a portable canister unit which allows the operator the freedom to clean various areas from top to bottom. Tests have revealed that this Hoover vacuum cleaner has the capacity to pull more dirt out of your carpets than any other machines. A 6-year limited warranty comes with the Hoover Platinum.

Weighing in at just less than 12 pounds and incorporating the latest patented “Wind Tunnel Technology”, the Hoover 30010COM is a lightweight vacuum cleaner that sucks up dust faster than any other model out there.

Using the HEPA medium, the large filtration bag of the Hoover 30010COM has the ability to trap virtually 100% of all known allergens in order to ensure they are not released back into the air. Likewise, this HEPA bag can filter out particles as small as 0.3 microns, including dust mites, dander and pollen, and because the bags are self closing, you can be rest assured that no dust will escape.

The Hoover 30010COM vacuum cleaner has many features that will make your job of vacuuming a great deal easier. First of all, the power button can be seen directly on the handle. You’ll also notice that this vacuum cleaner has a handy indicator light which takes the guesswork out of when the bag needs to be changed.

There is a tool bracket that lets you have the tools on-board so that they are accessible at all times. The following tools come with this machine: floor brush, crevice tool and a dusting brush. This Hoover vacuum cleaner comes equipped with a telescoping extension wand. The upright even has a headlight so that you will be able to see any debris and dirt that is located along the baseboards and under furniture.

The canister portion of this lightweight machine comes with a carrying strap which increases its mobility. It is able to be toted up and down the stairs, and if there happens to be tight quarters, the Hoover Platinum should be your choice. At the top of the canister is an area that has a handle which makes it very easy to pick up and carry while the vacuum is still in operation. You will see that the canister has impressive suction. The hose is a bit short at less than 5 feet. The canister vacuum is also somewhat loud.

Now, considering that you actually get two vacuum cleaners so to speak, the $400 price tag is a welcome surprise as most would expect to pay considerably more for the Hoover Platinum. Of course, as with any appliance, the Hoover Platinum does have a few issues but having said that, they’re not important enough to cause any problems. The first one being, there’s no roller brush cut-off feature and second, because it’s been designed to be lightweight, it can sometimes feel a little flimsy.

In my opinion the Hoover Platinum Lightweight is worth every penny. If offers you a level of mobility not seen in any other vacuum clean, it’s lightweight, and best of all is, you actually get two machines for the price of one.

Hoover Still Cleaning After 80 Years

November 5th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Hoover Vacuum Parts

Cleaning the areas that we live and work in has always been part of our lives. Even people living in caves have found ways to keep their living areas relative clean. The first means of cleaning were through the use of twigs and sticks. With the many chores that occupy a common homeowner, inventions were continually being introduced to make the simple chore of house cleaning less tedious. Who would have thought that years later a machine that was intentionally used for sweeping the floor would be manufactured in all shapes and sizes?

The first vacuum cleaners invented weighed almost a hundred pounds and were too big to easily move around. The later improved designs introduced more choices. In the early 1900s, when vacuum cleaners were gaining popularity across America, a man named Murray Spangler built a vacuum cleaner,(originally called a “suction sweeper”) prototype intended to suck the dust to prevent his allergies. He convinced his cousin Susan Hoover to try the machine by cleaning her house with it. Susan was so convinced that she and her husband, William Henry Hoover began producing more of the Spangler design and sold it across America.

For many years the Hoover was the most popular brand sold in the United States, mainly because William Henry Hoover offered buyers to use the sweeper for 10 days before they purchase it. Since then, Hoover became a household name: along with the latest home appliance we now call a vacuum cleaner, and the popular Hoover vacuum cleaners bags.

Hoover was the first to use a cloth filter bag, which is what we know now as the vacuum cleaner bag, and cleaning attachments. An addition to this cleaner’s salability is its weight. The new machine weighed only 40 pounds, more than half of the original cleaners’ weight. In the UK, Hoover cleaners were sold with the slogan “It beats as it sweeps as it cleans,” attributed mainly to the beater bar that came along with it. This greatly increased the cleaning efficiency and is use by most upright vacuum cleaners.

From 1926 to the present, Hoover vacuum cleaners have been through many model changes to increase the dirt removal efficiency by increasing its suction power. New designs in vacuum cleaner bags also helped cleaning efficiency. This allowed homeowner to easily dispose of the collected dust and then reattaching a new one to continue their cleaning task at hand.

James Dyson’s vacuum design was originally offered to the Hoover Company for manufacturing and product release, however, the company foolishly declined. Years later when Dyson’s design turned out to be the best in the world, Hoover announced that declining the Dyson design was their biggest regret.

Recently people have found that the new HEPA vacuum cleaner bags have become much improved. The filters within these bags do a much better job of removing dust, pathogens and dust mites then their predicessors. They are convenient for homeowners who usually wants an easier and faster way to dispose of the dirt collected in the vacuum. With a vacuum cleaner bag, it’s as easy as attaching the new bag, turning on the vacuum cleaner and then start cleaning. If you use a bag less vacuum you do not have to purchase bags but removing the dirt from the vacuum cleaner is usually a dirty task. Hoover’s new models now include bagless vacuum cleaners, which in turn resulted to more portable and smaller models.

Many people, especially homeowners would argue that the invention of the vacuum cleaner was one of the top inventions of the 20th century. The Hoover was the first commercially successful vacuum cleaner that made cleaning less of a chore. Every homeowner will be forever be thankful for this invention.

The Hoover Vacuum Cleaners

November 5th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Hoover Vacuum Parts

One of the most important things for asthma sufferers to do to limit the exposure to triggers is to simply eliminate them. High quality vacuum cleaners with the HEPA filtration system will help to remove many triggers such as dust mites, pet dander, pollen, and get things really clean. The Hoover Self Propelled Wind Tunnel Ultra is more than up to this task.

The Wind Tunnel upright has many special features that make it easy to use. It is self propelled, which is great, as it is a larger vacuum. With its size, the self propelled feature is great to have. You simply let the vacuum pull itself around the floor, sucking up dirt and debris as it goes.

The embedded dirt finder of the Hoover Wind Tunnel will help you to remember to slow down when you vacuum, and it actually lets you know when they are clean, which is great for those who have a knack for going to fast and missing things.

Attachments

Unlike other types of vacuum cleaners, the Wind Tunnel Ultra offers attachments that are easy to use and actually work. To activate any of the attachments, you simple lock the handle of the vacuum in the upright position. Doing so will automatically turn the dual agitator brushes off.

The attachment hose is a very flexible, high quality extension that doesn’t require you to connect it to anything for it to be used. All you have to do is pull the end of the hose from the vacuum and begin using it. Among the several attachments you can use are two extension wands, a crevice tool, upholstery nozzle with a rotating brush, and a dusting brush as well.

Ability to clean

The Hoover self propelled Wind Tunnel is superb on hard floors and carpets. It features a hard wood floor setting that will turn the agitator brushes off so that it doesn’t blow dirt back while you vacuum.

It offers plenty of power for hard wood floors, picking up virtually anything. Vacuuming rubs and carpets is a snap as well. With the embedded dirt finder and the high level of power, cleaning is easy. Throw in a built in edge cleaner and you have a nice vacuum.

Filtration system

Several people may be flat out shocked to find a vacuum in this price range that still uses bags. This isn’t really a bad feature, especially for those who suffer from asthma. Emptying a bagless vacuum can be very tricky for those who suffer from asthma as the dust and debris can quickly end up back into the air that you breathe.

The Hoover Wind Tunnel uses 3M vacuum bags that feature full HEPA filtration in a 6 step process to ensure that dust, pollen, and other triggers remain in the bag and don’t make it back into your home or into your air. This vacuum cleaner also offers an easy to read indicator that will let you know when the bag is full.

The bottom line

The Hoover Wind Tunnel is a great vacuum cleaner, and is one of the best you can buy. It is a great choice for removing asthma triggers from your carpet and floors as well as bedding and other furniture. It is also very easy to use and has plenty of power to spare.

The embedded dirt finder can be the best friend of an asthma sufferer very fast. It the features aren’t enough to make you a believer, the vacuum is also rated #1 in several magazines, which proves hand down that this vacuum is more than worth the purchase.

Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Parts – The Answer For A Smooth Running Vacuum Cleaner?

October 25th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Hoover Vacuum Parts

Thank God for Hoover vacuum cleaner parts. I don’t know if you’ve been shopping for a new vacuum cleaner recently, but it seems to me as though the cost of a good vacuum cleaner is ridiculous! Some brands can run upwards of $1,500, which is just entirely too much to spend on a machine that I try to use as infrequently as possible. The fact that you can finance a vacuum cleaner and pay for it over the course of a couple of years is asinine to me.

After having my Hoover vacuum cleaner for what seemed like an eternity, the poor thing finally gave out. It was a hand me down model that was given to me from my aunt, and it lasted me all through college and well into my twenties. Hoovie, as I affectionately called him, always did the trick and didn’t seem to spazz out too much when he sucked up bobby pins, thumb tacks and spare change. When the vacuum suddenly stopped working and I started looking into buying a new one, I knew I had to try to revive old Hoovie. I just couldn’t afford to pay for a new one, so I took him to a vacuum cleaner repair shop. They fixed him up just as good as the day he came off of the assembly line, using genuine Hoover vacuum cleaner parts.

Ever since the vacuum cleaner repair shop replaced some old fixtures with Hoover vacuum cleaner parts, my vacuum has been as good as new. While vacuuming has never been fun for me, it isn’t the arduous chore that it once was. I still try to vacuum as little as humanly possible, but that has nothing to do with the vacuum at all. I just really hate cleaning.
